Blog Posts

When I first started a blog, I thought of it as a place to express myself. I began posting a lot of personal essays and random thoughts. I quickly came to realize that blog posts are a genre all their own. I embraced it.

Here I submit links to a couple of my favorites.

How to maximize a test score

They say you should write what you know. As a generalist, I know a little about a lot, but not a whole ton about any one thing.

BUT…what I am objectively good at is test-taking. Test-taking is not always a fantastic measure of someone’s knowledge or intelligence. Test-taking is a skill all its own.

There is no shortage of blog posts about how to do well on a test, but I have original thoughts on the subject, which happened to have served me well in my may-I-say-somewhat-extensive college education days.

How to talk to conspiracy theory-believing friend

I wrote an informative article about why people have a tendency to believe in conspiracy theories which I had published on Medium.com. I wanted to supplement that information with a blog post about how to talk to family and friends about their conspiracy beliefs without sacrificing the relationship.

I had read multiple articles from psychologists about the best way to approach this sensitive subject matter, but I also had my own experiences. I felt I could add to the conversation. And, of course, leave out the advice that hadn’t worked for me.
