Humor and Satire

I read A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift in my first college English course. I was enamored by its brilliance. Could I ever be so clever? Such lofty dreams. Well, practice makes perfect. I truly enjoy writing humorous and satirical pieces.

Political Satire

I include this piece because it is the best performing piece I have ever written.

I don’t enjoy politics and I never intended to write this piece. It was almost an accident. Isn’t that often the way with popular works?

It’s a satirical piece about foregoing the consensus of experts in favor of alternative views. It is clear from its response that I managed to tap into Poe’s Law a little bit. I like to pretend I did that on purpose.

A Day in the Life

Who doesn’t love a little day-in-the-life hyperbole?

I wrote this piece for other writers, particularly other writers on Medium.com. It remains one of my favorites, and possibly one of my most relatable articles.
